Soiling: Particularly in the case of porous
or, in other words, absorbent surfaces, dirt is introduced
in the pores of the substrate by liquids. This could
be water-based soling and pollution, but could also
be oil or fat-based, and may even contain solvents.
In order to be able to easily remove this kind of soiling,
the penetration of the soiling liquid into the pores
must be prevented, or the adhesion of this soiling to
the inner and outer surfaces of a surface must be prevented.
It should be kept in mind here that, in the case of
porous surfaces, the inner surfaces, i.e., the walls
of the pores, make up an area that is several time greater
than the actual external surface area.
